My Approach to Therapy & Coaching

As a therapist and coach, I seek to create a warm and honest relationship between myself and my clients so they feel safe to open up and explore the roots of their issues. I am interested in assisting individuals and couples to work through real-time problems affecting them in their present and to help them heal historical patterns that no longer serve them.

To accomplish this, I draw on tools from Dialect Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy (ACT), & Systems Therapy, to help my clients manage their pressing symptoms and relational issues. I offer my clients tools to reduce acute suffering in order to open up more emotional space and bandwidth for them to explore the root of their suffering.

The foundation of my approach lies in Psychodynamic Therapy, which works to discover the root of one’s symptoms instead of applying a bandaid over them. Through this process, I explore how my clients’ lived experiences, familial dynamics, and complex inner worlds have created the symptoms they suffer from. Through this process of self-discovery and insight comes the ability to make life choices that better serve my clients in their present lives.

As a coach, I draw from all the therapeutic skills listed above and combine these with my knack for the practical. For my coaching clients, I begin by taking an inventory of what I believe the person or couple needs to succeed in their goals: whether that be coaching on how to de-escalate an argument with your spouse, how to financially plan in a way that assists you towards your goals, how to work towards your dream job, or how to navigate opening up your relationship healthily and communicatively. I believe in honestly reflecting to my clients what I see in them or their couple and then working with them to find the solutions that strengthen them as individuals or in their relationships.

Finally, as both a therapist and a coach I hope to create an environment that is anti-racist, LGBTQAI+ friendly, anti-ableist, kink friendly, & trauma-informed. In essence, all are welcome in my therapeutic and coaching spaces and are met with humility and attuned care.
